The new Hino 700 Series showcases the most extensive safety package to ever be offered in a Hino truck, therefore earning the title of “safest Hino ever”.
Driver Monitor (DM) has been incorporated into the Hino SmartSafe package – a combination of safety features including driver assist technologies to improve safety for the drivers. This system uses a camera to analyse the attention of the driver while on the road, looking at the driver’s posture, face orientation and eyelid status at all times.
An audible and visual alert is set off if drowsiness or lack of concentration is detected in the driver. Through this system, they aim to reduce driver fatigue and ultimately prevent accidents.
The SmartSafe features include a pre-collision system with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and lane. Hino have prioritised safety, deciding to equip their 4×2, 6×2, and 6×4 variants of 700 Series range with SmartSafe.
All 700 Series models include an Electronic Brake System (EBS) to assist in immediate stopping. EBS uses electronic signals which are sent from the brake pedal directly to the brake modulator valve, resulting in faster activation of the modulator valves to improve braking response times while simultaneously reducing braking distances.
The standard Hino safety package comes with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR), driver SRS airbag, ADR84/00 Front Underrun Protection (FUP), UN ECE R29-rated cab strength and reverse camera.
All AMT models have an integrated Easy Start system, allowing for a smoother take-off from being stopped on a slope. Hino have chosen to use LED lights for headlamps and Daytime Running Lamps due to the fact that they emit brighter, whiter lighting as well as remove the need to change bulbs.
